Buying goods and services from State Certified Minority Businesses (MBEs) is important because it allows Ohio State to track the diversity of its supplier base and helps the university meet its goals as a state-assisted institution. And, because these businesses are based in Ohio, a portion of the university's expenditures are reinvested into the local community to create jobs and provide other economic benefits.
Many of the prime contracts have a supplier diversity component (i.e. there is an MBE business on contract) so you can take advantage of volume-negotiated pricing and at the same time work toward meeting diversity goals. Look under the "Pricing and Ordering Information" heading to learn about how to access MBE companies on contract as part of prime agreements.
